Root Chakra Information
The Root Chakra also known as the Base Chakra is the first chakra.
Energetically the root chakra vibrates the color red and is significantly important
in our connection in feeing secure and stable in our lives.
SANSKRIT NAME: Muladhara (root/support)
LOCATION: The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and radiates
down our legs and into mother earth.
PHYSICALLY: The root chakra governs the kidneys, adrenals, spinal column
and colon. It is the location of the resting “Kundalini” – the serpentine energy
coiled inside every human being. The root chakra activates as soon as the
umbilical cord is cut from the mother and it stays in effect for the first seven years
of life. Whatever happens from birth to 7 years of age effects the root chakra. If
you have had some trauma in that time period and find yourself to be
unbalanced it is probable that it is a root chakra issue.
BALANCED ENERGY: When one has a strong Root chakra they feel safe and
secure in their environment, like a tree with long roots that grow into the earth to
support and nurture.
UNBALANCED ENERGY: I believe this particular chakra is very important as it
is the foundation to all of the other chakras so having a strong root chakra is
imperative in having a balance throughout your energetic body. Egotistical,
dominating and controlling are all signs of an over active root chakra. Signs of
an under active root chakra are lack of confidence weak, (feels like) can't
achieve goals, suicidal, sexual energy, feel unlovable, little interest in sex,
masochistic.
GEMSTONES: Ruby, garnet, bloodstone, red jasper, black tourmaline,
obsidian, smoky quartz.
HOW TO BALANCE: Gardening, walking around barefoot, pampering your feet
and even just taking care of house plants are all great ways to help balance and
keep your root chakra in balance. Go outside and walk around the yard and feel
the earth beneath your feet.
