What is an Attunement?
An attunement is an energetic connection that is passed on from a Reiki
practitioner to the student. It will open up channels to the student to allow them
to access the particular Reiki modality that the person is being attuned to.
There are other names for an attunement like Empowerment also.
To pass on an attunement to someone one must be "attuned" to that particular
energy modality. It may seem a little confusing to the Reiki-newbie so my
suggestion would be to find a good teacher that can assist you with learning
Usui Reiki first.
Once someone is attuned to the master/teacher level of a particular modality
(for example Usui Reiki Master/Teacher level) they can share attunements with
others. Their teacher that taught them the attunement should be able to explain
the process of attunement. Each modality is different in the amount of levels
needed to be able to attune someone else.
Typically when an energy system is formed it is either channelled by one or
several practitioners and they first receive the attunement from Spirit, or the
Ascended Master, Archangel, Fairies etc and are gifted with the knowledge on
how to attune and share that energy with others.
